Lately, I’ve been inspired to merge two of my worlds: spirituality and art.
I have about half a dozen 30″ x 30″ canvases that I’ve hauled between our last 3 moves (yep, we are in house number four in over 6 years).
I found them on Craigslist for a stupidly good price the night the seller was moving out of her apartment.
As I recall is was like 10pm on a Friday night when I drove to pick them up and I remember thinking “what the hell are you doing?” you don’t have anywhere to paint!
When I decided to commandeer the garage as my studio a month ago, I pulled one of these canvases down from the top of our garage refrigerator and put it on the easel. I’ve been staring at it for weeks.
Today, I grabbed a piece of charcoal and just started swinging my arm in a circle.
This is the result.
So far so good.
And, it’s about to get real.
Since scribing this circle, I’ve been thinking about a theme… a voice… a story I want this canvas to tell.
Inspiration struck: create a piece dedicated to Matthew’s definition of Enlightenment.
“Enlightenment is the recognition that the source of life within you is the source of life in everyone and everything else. We are all one thing expressing itself with infinite variety.” – Matthew Ferry
That feels good.
So, this is the beginning. Updates to come.
