Dictionary.com uses words like “reduction” “decrease” and “minus” to describe “subtraction”.

Works for me.

In a culture where you can literally find just about anything you desire at any time, one of the most important things we can do is decide what we AREN’T going to do. Or more importantly what we aren’t going to focus on (but that’s a different conversation altogether).

Deciding what to DO in our day to day lives defines who we are, how we interact with the world and what we value.

The things I am subtracting from my life are things I put there at one time or another. It’s just that now, they aren’t bringing me joy. And that’s my new yardstick.

What’s yours? What are you willing to subtract so you can add something new that brings you joy?
